At Smokey Okie’s, we are proud of our entire catalog of cannabis strains, and everything new that will be coming in the next few months (check out our Pheno-hunting videos on our YouTube channel to learn more!). One of our favorite parts of our job is to take our strains on a test smoke and provide our customers with insight into what they can expect when they purchase the strain. We think it’s really important to understand the experience and flavor of each strain so that you can make the best decisions when shopping for your next smoke.

If you are looking for a smoke that will give you an intense high, that starts out in your head but then oozes into a relaxed, happy high, you can look no further than California Dream. It may seem like a paradox, but California Dream is a great daytime choice for smoking that helps ease anxiety and stress.

California Dream Lineage

Although we think of the modern cannabis movement as having originated in the mountains of Northern California, it’s easy to forget that the Dutch, and other nearby European locations, were early innovators in the movement. California Dream is one such strain that came out of the ‘90’s era Euro-scene.

Bred by BSB Genetics in the U.K., this strain descends from other favorites of the time, Super Silver Haze and Blueberry.

Super Silver Haze is an award-winning strain that was extremely popular in the late 90s, with an earthy and citrusy aroma and an uplifting high. It’s a renowned strain for its ability to deliver a high but also keep you productive, a go-to choice for many individuals who are seeking a way to feel happy and relaxed.

Blueberry has a flavor and aroma to match its name, fruity, refreshing and sweet. Like Super Silver Haze, Blueberry also has a well-balanced high. Starting off with a mellow buzz, followed by feelings of happiness and euphoria, you’re sure to be at-ease. Together, these two amazing strains make California Dream.

Flavor Profile

California Dream delivers a flavor that makes you think of California. From the orange groves and California hills with pine trees and the earthiness of the mountains, you’ll find all those flavors when you smoke this strain.

As we teach in our blog series all about shopping for the best strain for you, the flavor profile of a marijuana strain comes chiefly from the terpenes that are present. The principle terpenes found in California Dream are:

  • Limonene
Limonene is the second most abundant terpene, but not all strains have it. Limonene brings with it the tropical lemony twist that some describe as sour. In California Dream, this is where we get the citrus that you taste right up front.

  • Myrcene
Myrcene is an earthy terpene and is cherished for its relaxing qualities. California Dream is one strain that has an earthy flavor with pine undertones, reminding you of the California hills.

  • Pinene
If you’ve ever smoked a weed that smells or tastes of pine, then it likely had pinene in it. It also can bring undertones of rosemary and orange with it, adding to the earthiness and citrus flavors of California Dream.

Smoking Experience

As mentioned a few times, California Dream will have your head in the clouds; you’ll feel calm and relaxed. Many people who smoke California Dream report feeling a tingly buzz to begin that slowly leads to a euphoric head high that can make you feel giggly and in a happy stupor. The THC level in California Dream is well above average (> 25%), so this strain is for those looking to get an intense peak high or those looking for a strain that sedates them on the way down.

We suggest California Dream for:

Because California Dream provides both a cerebral, creative high, as well as a sedative effect, we suggest this for use in those suffering from ailments such as:

  • Depression
  • Creativity block
